
Whatever the reason behind Luke Browning’s bewildering drop-off in form over the final two events in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, it should not detract from an otherwise excellent Formula 2 rookie campaign with Hitech GP. And he still ended up only just behind the experienced runner-up Jak Crawford and even-more-experienced third man Richard Verschoor in the final rankings.
Some bad luck and the occasional miscue kept him out of the winner’s circle until September at Monza, where he claimed victory from pole. That was his only win, but he remained in title contention for much of the year.
