Australian Survivor 2026 Winner Caleb Beeby Reveals Physical & Mental Toll The Show Took On Him

Help is available.

Australian Survivor might look like fun and games — competing in challenges, scheming with allies and voting out opponents — but 2026 winner Caleb Beeby has revealed the intense physical and mental toll the reality show took on him.

The 29-year-old truck driver told PEDESTRIAN.TV following Tuesday night’s finale that, although he walked away $500,000 richer, it took some time to adjust to reality after 45 days of filming in Samoa.

“I just could not stop eating until I was sick. Even if I wasn’t hungry at all, if I saw food anywhere in the house, I would clear it,” he explained.

“I had lost like 14kg in four weeks on Survivor. It was insane. I really, really starved myself, and then I remember struggling with the food because I could not stop eating.”

How Caleb regained control

Feeling overwhelmed by his spiralling diet — and a particular weakness for chocolate — Caleb worked with a production-provided nutritionist and sought advice from his co-star and three-time Survivor veteran Brooke Jowett to regain control.

“Brooke was like, ‘Caleb, I’ve been in that place before. Give yourself two weeks of eating whatever you want, no shame. Eat as much as you want, and after those two weeks, pull up, go back into your routine, go back onto a diet, go back into eating healthy, and then it’ll happen’,” he detailed.

“And that’s exactly what I did, and that’s the best advice that I got from anyone coming out of Survivor.”

Caleb also remembered reuniting with his dad after the Final Tribal Council, realising he couldn’t stand being indoors and was struggling to regulate his emotions.

“I thought coming out of the game I’d be happier. I thought that I would be cheerful and on top of the moon, but there was one conversation I was having with my dad, and I was a bit snappy,” he said.

“I got a call from a psychologist checking in, and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m a bit snappy at people’. And she was like, ‘Your adrenaline has been at such a high level for so long — you have used all of your emotions on hyperdrive. You’ve really got nothing to pull from; your tank is empty’. But after about a month, I was back to good old Caleb.”

Caleb’s experience serves as a candid look behind the curtain of reality TV, proving that the toughest challenge isn’t always winning the game — it’s surviving the aftermath.
