Starting guard Austin Blythe went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter of the Rams’ Week 2 bout against the Saints. He was helped off the field by trainers and was carted into the locker room.
The team confirmed that Blythe is currently questionable to return.
Blythe has been a key starter for the Rams at a thin position. He took over for Jamon Brown last year during his suspension and never relinquished the job. Unproven second-year guard Jamil Demby will step in at right guard in Blythe’s absence.
While the official ruling is that Blythe is questionable to return, it seems a bit unlikely. He looked to be in serious pain when he went down on the field and was seen taking the cart off into the locker room. Expect Demby to finish out the game.
