The new Winter Olympic sport of monobob looks to be providing another gold medal opportunity for Australia with Bree Walker taking out her seventh win in the discipline in Austria.

Competing at the World Series event in Innsbruck, Walker moved into equal first place on the world standings with her victory in front of American Elana Meyers Taylor and Canada's Melissa Lotholz.

The former track hurdler has now competed in eleven monobob events, with an impressive strike-rate of victories.

Monobob is a solo version of the bobsleigh, first introduced at the 2016 Winter Youth Games for women only.

Unlike the two-and four-person versions of the discipline, competitors use the same sleds, removing the advantage of technology and opening it up to more countries to become involved.

It is scheduled to make its Games debut at the Beijing Winter Olympics next February.

Walker will be one of the favourites at the world championships, to be held in Germany on February 13-14.
