Audi ploughs into Sainsbury's pet food aisle causing 'lots of damage'

An investigation has been launched after a red Audi was driven through the window of a Sainsbury's store.

Pictures from the scene show a visibly damaged Audi A3 which had come to a stop inside the pet food aisle of the supermarket chain's store.

Shelves were left completely destroyed, leaving products scattered across the floor.

The incident happened just over the border in Derby, at the Sainsbury's superstore in Osmaston Park.

It is understood to have happened between Saturday, December 18 and December 19.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit, posting on Twitter, says: "In-store cleaner required in the pet food aisle please.

"Audi drives in to shop window. Investigation ongoing but initial CCTV enquiries shows poor standard of driving in car park. No injuries but lots and lots of damage."
