Audi driver rams police off road during high speed chase after stealing car at knifepoint

A man involved in a high-speed chase on the A55 in a car stolen at knife-point was jailed.

Lee Nathaniel Hindley, 31, of Donnington Road, Manchester, was jailed for 32 months at Manchester Crown Court following a police pursuit on the A55 in August, reports North Wales Live .

He was behind the wheel of an Audi when it was pursued through Bangor, with police saying the driver rammed a police car before the vehicle crashed and came to a stop.

In a statement following the case, North Wales Police's roads policing unit said: "One of our officers was involved in a high speed pursuit with the Audi which had been stolen at knife-point from Manchester.

"The driver rammed one of our cars before being arrested.

"Knives were also recovered from the door pocket."

They added: "[Hindley] appeared before Manchester Crown Court last week charged with various offences including two counts of possession of a knife, dangerous driving, drink driving, failing to provide an evidential blood sample following a positive roadside drugs test for cocaine, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance.

"He was jailed for 32 months and disqualified from driving for three years (and he must take an extended test)."

Images of the incident released by the force showed a white Audi with significant damage following the chase, with a police vehicle having also sustained damage in the incident.
