Arsenal supporters are getting excited at the prospect of a huge £72million signing.
With the Gunners having a reported £45million to spend this summer, the links with Lille forward Nicolas Pepe - a player they have monitored for more than a year - came as something of a surprise.
Pepe is rated highly by Lille and was thought to be tracked by Premier League rivals Liverpool too.
The 24-year-old was expected to be out of Arsenal's price range this summer, but the Gunners have laid down a marker and lodged a £72million bid for the Ivorian winger.
There were plenty of reports circling that a deal had already been agreed, but while that is not the case, football.london does understand that the Gunners are in advanced talks to sign Pepe, who scored 22 goals and set up 11 assists for Lille in Ligue 1 playing down the right flank, this summer.
And some supporters believe they have spotted something which suggests it's just a case of dotting the Is and crossing the Ts over a £72million transfer.
Arsenal were in action against Lyon in the Emirates Cup on Sunday afternoon, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opening the scoring the in the first half.
And the Gabon did something after scoring that got Gunners' tongues wagging on social media.
Aubameyang cupped his hand to his ear - something that you would not expect a home player to do on his home ground, particularly not a player that is as well loved as the Gabonese is.
It is, however, a goal celebration that has become somewhat synonymous with a player by the name of Pepe.
And a host of Gunners fans were quick to notice, coming up with the theory that the transfer is done, and that Aubameyang had just announced it on the pitch.
Arsenal supporters will be hoping to see Pepe do that same celebration at the Emirates when the season starts in a couple of weeks.
