Atletico Madrid defender Renan Lodi has tested positive for coronavirus, while nine other Rojiblancos players have shown antibodies of the virus.

The Brazilian right-back has had symptoms since mid-March, just days after playing for Atletico in the Champions League against Liverpool at Anfield, according to reports in Spain and his homeland.

However, the 22-year-old has only been tested now ahead of a return to training for LaLiga clubs after the Spanish government lightened lockdown regulations in a four-phase de-escalation plan which could see LaLiga kick off again in June.

Lodi, who is now said to be without symptoms, will have to remain in quarantine for the next 10 days before he can begin to work out at the club facilities ahead of a planned resumption of the competition next month.

His partner and their assistant at home have also been tested.

Meanwhile, nine other Atletico players showed antibodies to the virus in the tests on Friday, but it is understood they are no longer contagious and will therefore be able to train with the rest of their team-mates.

Atletico have made no comment on the reports.
