Asthma sufferers warned not to wear face masks amid coronavirus pandemic

Asthma sufferers are being warned not wear face masks during the coronavirus crisis.

That's the advice from experts who warn that the pieces of protective equipment can make breathing harder for 12% of Brits, according to The Mirror.

Currently in Scotland Nicola Sturgeon has said the public should wear face coverings when in a supermarket or on public transport.

The SNP leader said the use of facial coverings must not be used as an alternative to good hygiene in her change of policy at the end of April.

But now Asthma UK are advising people who suffer with the illness against covering up.

They said: "For some people with asthma, wearing a face covering might not be easy. It could make it feel harder to breathe.

"The government has advised the people with respiratory conditions don't need to wear face coverings - so if you are finding it hard, then don't wear one.”
