Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will have enough blood to quench a pirate come July, Ubisoft producer promises after its trailer was oddly clean

Don't worry, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's first trailer might have been oddly sanitized, but the final game will be bloody enough to quench a pirate's appetite for violence.

Ubisoft finally unveiled its worst-kept secret to the world yesterday with an extended trailer diving deep into its remade pirate adventure. It looked great, except for the fact that every time main man Edward Kenway stabbed someone in the gut or shot them in the eye, they simply flopped over bloodless like a stunt actor.

After some fans questioned if the company was censoring its normally bloody series, the remake's lead producer Justin Ng chimes in to say that's not the case. "A few things to quickly address I guess (without getting into trouble hopefully)," he tweets. "There WILL be blood in the final game, and it will not be a paid DLC."

The Black Flag Resynced lead also notes that the dev team is aware of complaints aimed at the game's excessive VFX and audio cues during combat, so "it's being toned down" in time for the remake's full launch on July 9 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

One thing we didn't see too much of in its reveal trailer was the series' signature stealthy-stabby bits: blending into crowds, hiring dancers for distractions, acting super duper casual by just sitting on a bench. Responding to another fan on social media worried about whether those social stealth elements remain intact, Ng simply says "it's still there. #Faithful."

Ubisoft preemptively got ahead of genre backlash, too. Game director Richard Knight notes that Black Flag Resynced is both a single-player adventure and definitely not an RPG, unlike the newer AssCreed games that lean on levelling up and stats.

Cashing in 10 years of irony, Ubisoft taps Skull & Bones studio to lead Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced development.
