A $90 Sephora makeover isn’t cheap, but given the high status of the brand, you’d expect it to be worth it. Sadly, for TikToker Brandi (@brandipovtv), this wasn’t the case. In a viral video, which has amassed 260,200 views, Brandi was visibly near tears and claimed to be on the verge of a panic attack because of her experience.
As she sat in the car talking about what happened, viewers could see for themselves how the makeup look turned out, its main features being uneven foundation and a combination of unblended black and red eye shadow.
Looking at the camera, she said, “Look at me. I just got my makeup done at Sephora. I’m going to have a panic attack. I just paid $90.”
“I don’t think that girl’s ever put makeup on anyone in her life,” she added. “She didn’t have any makeup on—not that you have to wear makeup to do makeup.”
Brandi then went on to describe how she expected the makeup artist to “block out” the eyeshadow before blending it. “I was like, ‘Oh, this is going to be cool when she blends it out.’ And I’m, like, looking at it, I’m like, […] there’s, like, holes in the makeup all over the place. Like, the foundation.”
She continued, “I’m gonna cry, it’s my birthday, and it’s supposed to be dinner, and I’m going to cry. I don’t know what to do.”
Commenters weighed in
In the comments, users weren’t shy about giving their opinions. “Did she even work there?” one asked. “Mam, that wasn’t a Sephora… that was a Hot Topic,” a second quipped.
Similarly, a third joked, “Mac would have never done you like this,” while a fourth enquired, “Why did you pay?”
“Sephora…comp this lady IMMEDIATELY,” a fifth commanded, with a sixth adding, “We need no normalize not paying for service failures.”
The TikToker made several follow-ups
Brandi made a total of six follow-up videos in relation to her experience.
In these clips, she shared a number of additional details. These include the fact that another store assistant criticized the makeup as it was being done, the fact that the 90-minute appointment only took 45 minutes, and the fact that she asked for a ’90s grunge look. She also said she didn’t want to get a refund because the store assistant who did her makeup was “sweet.”
Nonetheless, she called Sephora and spoke to two managers. They offered her samples and/or the same value in products, but Brandi initially refused, insisting that she just wanted to call them as part of a “public service announcement” about the employee. Brandi also disclosed that this happened at the Sephora in the Lennox Town Centre in Ohio.
In the end, with the commenters’ encouragement, Brandi decided to accept the refund and free samples. Brandi didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment and email. Sephora didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via email.

Sephora overcharges customer by six figures
The popular makeup retailer is getting a lot of attention on TikTok at the moment, and not for the right reasons. Simultaneously, TikToker Emma Kate Osley (@emmakateosley) went viral after sharing how she was charged “over a hundred times” for a single Sephora order.
While the makeup itself cost $592, the duplicate charges racked up to a total of approximately $115,000.“If you’re thinking about shopping the Sephora sale or have shopped, this is your sign to check your bank statements,” Osley said in the viral clip.
Osley received compensation for another order and a $100 gift card for her troubles. However, at the time of writing, the charges weren’t cleared from Osley’s card.
