Asian Games: Vishnu Sarvanan sets sail to bronze glory

NEW DELHI: Vishnu Sarvanan, a seasoned sailor representing India, secured a bronze medal in the men's dinghy ILCA-7 event at the Asian Games. His performance in the grueling 11-race competition earned him a net score of 34, which was enough to clinch the bronze medal.

Remarkably, Sarvanan narrowly missed out on the silver medal by just one point. South Korea's Jeemin HA secured the second spot with 33 points. The gold medal in the event was claimed by Singapore's Jun Han Ryan Lo, who finished with a net score of 26.

In sailing, the competitor's worst score from all the races is subtracted from the total points to determine the net score. The sailor with the lowest net score is declared the winner.

Sarvanan's total score in the competition was 48, and his worst race was an eighth-place finish, where he retired. As a result, 14 points were deducted from his score, contributing to his net score of 34 and ultimately earning him the bronze medal.

Vishnu Sarvanan's achievement adds to India's success in sailing at the Asian Games, showcasing his skill and competitiveness.
