Ashley Cain shares happy update as baby Azaylia finally gets to meet her cousin

Ashley Cain shared the happy moment his poorly baby daughter Azaylia finally got to meet her cousin.

The former footballer, 30, took to Instagram to share sweet pictures of the eight-month-old holding hands and getting to know her cousin Anaya.

The two tots, who were adorably wearing similar outfits, were born only six days apart.

“One special moment at a time,” he captioned the series of photos.

“When Azaylia finally got to see her cousin Anaya without a pane of glass between them, it melted my heart.

“The two little princesses were born only 6 days apart and when they touched hands for the first time, it sent immense amounts of emotion through my body. It made me happy, so happy, but with sorrowful tears.”

He continued: “We take each day at a time on this journey. So it’s important to enjoy today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow isn’t promised. Another day baby... Another day! LETS GO CHAMP! I LOVE YOU.”

Last month, Ashley and his partner Safiyya Vorajee took Azaylia home after doctors told them her leukaemia could no longer be treated.

Azaylia has been battling the aggressive form of blood cancer since she was only two months old.

Doctors said the tot could have just days to live, but in a recent social media post, Ashley said the family aren't "counting down the days" as they are trying to make all their time together count.

Opening up about his little girl’s brave battle, proud dad Ashley wrote : “As a parent, it's the hardest thing in the world to see your child like this, at home with the painful, inevitable fate pending.

"For some insane reason though, I still have some crazy belief that she will still be with us next week, the week after that, and the week after that.

"But we aren't counting the days right now, we're just doing our best to make those days count.”
