Ashes 2019 leading wicket takers: Top bowler standings for England vs Australia Test series

England and Australia’s finest bowlers will go head-to-head in a bid to be the leading wicket taker at this summer’s Ashes Series.

Over the course of one of sport’s most historic rivalries, some of the game’s greatest bowlers have made their mark on the iconic contest, with legendary Aussie spinner Shane Warne leading the all-time standings with 195 wickets.

Of the current sides, it is England’s James Anderson, the highest wicket-taking fast bowler in Test history, who leads the way, with long-time new-ball partner Stuart Broad just behind, and both will be looking to add to that haul this summer.

At the other end of the spectrum, England new-boy Jofra Archer could be a contender - even though the 24-year-old has been omitted from the first Test. But if his outstanding World Cup campaign transfer to what will be a first Test appearance, he could seriously trouble the top of the standings.

The Australian attack is led by perhaps the finest bowler on the planet right now in Mitchell Starc, and both he and fellow quick Pat Cummins will be hoping for a repeat of the last Ashes Series, down under in 2017/18, when they terrorised England’s batsmen with 45 wickets between them.

Another star of that series, Nathan Lyon, will provide the main Australian spin threat, with Moeen Ali expected to do the same for England.
