With humid and sticky temperatures across the UK, as a national heatwave scorches down, many will be looking for ways to take advantage of the unusually hot weather.
For many, that will mean spending some quality time outside or in a beer garden with pals and pints.
And as fun as drinks in the sun can be, having to swat away pesky flies or wasps can put a dampener on the occasion. There is also nothing worse than trying to relax with an ice cold drink, going to take a sip, and noticing floating bugs in your refreshment.

The Daily Record reports that if you're looking for a means of enjoying a drink peacefully, while keeping bugs at bay, an Asda shopper has the ideal trick for you which will cost you pennies. Bethan Shufflebotham from The Manchester Evening News shares how a paper cupcake case can be used as a drinks topper as a way to remind flies to buzz off during the summer.
The reporter said she has been using the handy trick for three years now. Shoppers looking to take the advice can grab a pack of 100 for 70p in Asda, which equates to less than 1p per topper. It's also super simple and straight forward to take advantage of.
You'll need a cupcake case, a straw and a pair of scissors to get started. Firstly, find the centre of the cupcake case and cut a tiny cross in the middle - just large enough to fit the straw through. Then place the cupcake case upside down over the top of your glass or cup to create a lid - pushing the straw through.
Voila, you should have a fly and bug proof drink topper for your beverages. If it's breezy outside, then you can also tape the lid in place, but the reporter says that the straw should mostly keep it down and prevent it blowing off. You will also want to pick the right sized case for your glass, or ditch your balloon gin glass for something more narrow to make a universal, one-size-fits-all product.
And the hack can also be used for cans and bottles too.
Additionally, cupcake cases can come in handy to stop ice lollies dripping onto your or your children's hands. When pushed up the sticks to create a bowl under the popsicle, it can help reduce mess and extra clothes washing amid the cost of living crisis.
