Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Co-op and Morrisons send 'do not eat' alerts and recall certain products

Major UK supermarkets have issued 'do not eat' alerts after a number of food products were recalled due to health and safety concerns. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a list of the items that should not be consumed.

The list includes Cadbury branded desserts, as well as goats cheeses, cereal and a Birds Eye product, reports Lancs Live. Several major supermarkets - Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Co-op, Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado - are among the retailers affected by the latest recall alerts.

Some items may contain Listeria monocytogenes while the others may contain ingredients not listed on the label. Anyone who has purchased any of the affected items listed below are advised to return them to stores for a full refund, but only as part of an essential trip. Here are all the latest supermarket product recalls and the reasons why they are being withdrawn from shelves:

Lactalis McLelland Ltd have taken the precautionary step of recalling various goat cheeses because the products might contain Listeria monocytogenes. It is sold in major supermarkets, including Co-op.

The FSA said: "The products listed above might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

"Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

"Lactalis McLelland Ltd is recalling the above products. Lactalis McLelland Ltd and Co-op have issued point-of-sale notices to their customers."

Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons

Müller has taken the precautionary step of recalling some batches of various Cadbury branded dessert products, sold through various retailers including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons, because of the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Waitrose and Ocado

Rude Health is continuing to recall Organic Ultimate Muesli because it contains brazil nuts (nuts) which are not mentioned on the label. The FSA said this means the product, sold through various retailers including Waitrose and Ocado, is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to brazil nuts (nuts).

Tesco, Iceland and Ocado

Birds Eye is continuing to recall Aunt Bessie’s Crispy Whole Onion Rings as some packs may contain an incorrect product which contains both egg and milk due to a manufacturing error. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg and/ or milk or milk constituents.

The popular frozen product is sold in a number of the UK's leading supermarkets, such as Tesco, Iceland and Ocado. The product details are:

The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or milk or milk constituents do not eat it.
