Donald Trump has claimed that rape accusations against him are a "political attack" as he prepares to run for the US Presidency in 2024.
In extraordinary scenes at his Clare hotel, he described accusations that he sexually assaulted writer E Jean Carroll in the 1990s as "false" and a "disgrace".
The case is currently in front of the courts while Mr Trump is in Ireland.

During his short trip to his Trump Doonbeg resort, he took in 18 holes on the golf course, decided on a name change for the hotel and debated with his staff about where to build a new ballroom.
As he teed off on the golf course at 9.30am on Thursday, Mr Trump could be heard asking his handlers if he could make a statement to the gaggle of waiting Irish media.
After hitting the ball, he said that current US President Joe Biden "couldn’t hit a 280 right down the middle".
"When they check our physical health, who hits a 280 down the middle? Biden can’t hit an 80 down the middle."
Mr Trump then hit back at the accusations saying that he raped Ms Carroll, asking why alleged evidence was not being entered into the trial.
In a book in which she made the accusations, she said that she was wearing a black coat dress during the assault.

In a four minute rant, Mr Trump denied the charges against him as he lambasted the fact that he had to cut his trip short.
He said: "I’ll be going back to New York. I was falsely accused by this woman. I have no idea who she is. It’s ridiculous.
"She wrote a book. She made a claim. She says she has a coat, now she doesn’t want to produce the coat...
"I have to cut my little… I don’t go on vacation. I’m working. This is Doonbeg, we’re making it great.
"I’ll be going back early because a woman made a claim that was totally false. It was fake," the former President claimed.
"She is a fake. She wrote in a book she is a Democrat.
"We have a rough judge. We have a judge that doesn’t like me much, appointed by Bill Clinton. He is a guy that doesn’t like me much.”
Mr Trump stated that the judge was not allowing alleged evidence being entered into the trial.
He also criticised the fact that his accuser “has a diary” but alleged that "she didn’t write about this event".
He continued: "She said she didn’t like to write bad things. Well, that turned out to be false because she writes bad things in her diary.
"It’s a disgrace. It’s called false accusations against a rich guy. Or, in my case, a famous, rich and political person who is leading the polls by 40 points.
"I am going to go back and I’m going to confront this woman. This woman is a disgrace and it shouldn’t be allowed to happen in our country."
Mr Trump continuously referenced his golf skills and the fact that President Biden cannot "hit a ball 50 yards".
“This is a political attack. This is the only way they think they can win the election because they’re losing."
He later called President Biden an “incompetent person”.
Speaking to reporters shortly before he left Doonbeg, Mr Trump claimed that he was 40 points ahead for the Republican nomination for the 2024 Presidential Election as he all but confirmed his plans to seek reelection.
He said: “We’re looking very good.
“We have a country that wants to see big changes made.
“We’re going to have a great country again. Right now it’s not a great country, but we will have a great country again and it will be soon.”
Following 18 holes on the golf course, Mr Trump held a 10 minute staff meeting alongside his son Eric.
In that short time, they decided that they were renaming the hotel “Trump Doonbeg on the Ocean”.
He later said that this is because “it is on the ocean. We have the ocean. Nobody else does”.
There were also tense negotiations about where the new ballroom should be located. The Irish Mirror understands.
When asked if there had been a decision made on how the hotel would be changed, Eric Trump told the media there was “more to come”.
“We have a very special property here. We are very excited about it”.
Sources told the Irish Mirror that Mr Trump had scored 71 on the golf course. This involved a birdie on the tenth hole. The par for the course is 72.
Following lunch in Trump's restaurant, the former US President left Doonbeg after taking several pictures with fans who had booked into the hotel overnight in hopes of catching a glimpse of the owner.
He departed Shannon Airport on Thursday evening.
