At the beginning of June, France inaugurated its first monument commemorating the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Standing on the banks of the Seine river in the heart of Paris, 'The Archive' is part of France's efforts to acknowledge its role in one of the 20th century's worst atrocities. It was designed by Grada Kilomba, a Portuguese artist of African descent. RFI spoke to her about how a journey to Rwanda to meet survivors informed her creative process.
