Arshdeep Singh creates unwanted record, bowls hat-trick of no-balls in T20Is

NEW DELHI: Making a comeback after being sidelined with an injury, India pacer Arshdeep Singh had a horrible start as the left-arm bowler overstepped three times in a row in the second over of the innings during the second T20I of the three-game series against Sri Lanka at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday.

In the process, Arshdeep created an unwanted record as he became the first Indian bowler to bowl a hat-trick of no-balls in T20Is.

Pacer Arshdeep bowled his first no-ball on the last delivery of the second over of the innings. Arshdeep conceded a boundary on the next ball which was also deemed a no-ball by the umpire.

Arshdeep bowled a no-ball in his third attempt too as Sri Lanka opener Kusal Mendis smashed him for a maximum.

The speedster also created the record for bowling the most number of no-balls in a T20I match by an Indian bowler.

Arshdeep, who bowled only 2 overs, conceding 37 runs, took his tally of no-balls in T20I cricket to 14.

By bowling 5 no-balls he has now become 2nd bowler from a full member nation of ICC, after Hamish Rutherford, to bowl 5 no-balls in a T20I.
