Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has recalled the famous Champions League victory against Barcelona following the 10-year anniversary of the match.
The Gunners fell behind to David Villa's first-half goal but mounted a late response, with Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin scoring in a five-minute blitz from Wenger's side.
While Arsenal would go on to lose the second leg 3-1, exiting the competition due to an aggregate scoreline of 4-3, it is a match widely recognised as one of the greatest results of the Emirates Stadium era.
These days, Arsenal don't have Champions League football, following a three-year absence from Europe's elite competition, and victories against the likes of Barcelona in their prime seem a long way off.
During his punditry duties this week, Wenger recalled his memories of the match and referenced the controversial red card shown to Van Persie in the second leg in Catalonia.
"It was a great Champions League match. Jack Wilshere had an outstanding game and I think he was involved in the second goal we scored," he told BeIN Sports.
"Van Persie, a top player. Here we see what it means to have supporters in the stands, look at that. Arshavin, this is a top class Barcelona team.
"What was unbelievable is that in the game at the Nou Camp, it was 1-1. Van Persie goes clear through, he's given offside but doesn't stop because the noise was so loud.
"He gets a second yellow card, 20 minutes to go, he's sent off, we finish with ten-men and lose 3-1 in the last 20 minutes. Then Barcelona wins the competition."
