Arsene Wenger makes Mohamed Salah declaration as Liverpool prepare for Barcelona tie

Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on Liverpool over how they signed Mohamed Salah - and labelled the forward "one of the best players in the world right now".

Salah joined the Reds from Roma in 2017 and has gone on to thrive on Merseyside

Last season saw the Egyptian win the Premier League golden boot and fire Jurgen Klopp’s men to the Champions League final.

And he is on course to repeat that feat this term, having jumped to the top of the scoring charts with 21 goals and with the Reds meeting Barcelona in the semi-final in Europe this week.

There is also the potential to lead the side to a first Premier League title.

And former Arsenal chief Wenger has praised the Reds for their decisive action in moving to land Salah and how his talent has been harnessed at Anfield.

“Mohamed Salah is a fantastic player," the Frenchman told beIN Sports. "He blossomed at Liverpool after being already very good at Roma.

“He is a sensational player. He fell a little bit after the World Cup until the past few weeks, he managed to come back to his best and he is one of the best players in the world right now.

“You have to give credit to Liverpool, with many clubs on the market and be able to sniff a player like him, shows that they did very well.”

Liverpool face Barcelona at Camp Nou on Wednesday night with Salah set to start in attack but questions over the fitness of Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian missed the win over Huddersfield on Friday night with a slight muscle tear but Klopp is hopeful he'll be available to take on the Spanish champions.
