Arsenal transfer round-up: £31million Barcelona offer 'prepared' amid Mykhaylo Mudryk doubts

The January transfer window has been open a week and Arsenal are yet to welcome a new face to the Emirates Stadium.

That is not through a lack of trying though, with the Gunners being linked with a clutch of players around Europe including the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk's Mykhaylo Mudryk and Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix. Talks appear to be on with both clubs, whilst a few other players already in North London could potentially be on their way out over the next few weeks.

With that being said, here are the latest transfer rumours involving the Gunners over the last 24 hours:

Arsenal ‘prepare’ Balde offer

Despite having plenty of depth at left-back this season with Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko both at the Emirates Stadium, it appears the Gunners are looking at bringing another left-sided defender into the club.

According to Spanish outlet Nacional via football.london, the North Londoners are preparing a £31m offer for Alejandro Balde. The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season with the Catalan giants this term but with just 18 months remaining on his contract, they could be forced to sell due to their questionable financial situation.

Edu is reportedly remaining ‘attentive’ over developments over his future but must at first convince him to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Mudryk doubts emerge

One of the main names linked with a switch this winter has been Ukrainian wideman Mudryk. Whilst Arsenal have already had a bid turned down for his services by Shakhtar, it appears there are doubts emerging over the Gunners’ interest.

According to The Telegraph, the North Londoners are ‘wary’ of over-spending on any incomings having not got their money’s worth in the past: the record signing of Nicolas Pepe immediately coming to mind.

They could potentially be prepared to step away should they not find any value in their search for new recruits, with there still some distance between what Arsenal and Shakhtar deem a suitable cost for a deal for Mudryk.

Gunners eye Porto star

An alternative to Mudryk could potentially be Porto star Pepe. Portuguese newspaper Record suggest the Gunners are interested in the Brazilian alongside Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The wideman currently has a €75m (£66m) release clause written into his contract but it is suggested that Arsenal could potentially sign him for much lower having seen him recently lose his place in the Porto side. Manager Sergio Conceicao is not keen on seeing him leave though which could potentially scupper the Gunners’ plans on a potential swoop

The 25-year-old originally joined the side from Gremio in 2021 and has gone on to score nine goals in 68 matches.
