Arsenal transfer news: Shakhtar issue £100m Mykhaylo Mudryk demand as Edu eyes Joao Felix loan

Your morning Arsenal transfer round-up on Thursday, December 29.

Arsenal sent £100m Mykhaylo Mudryk demand by Shakhtar Donetsk

Arsenal have been told the price they must match if they want to secure a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk. The Gunners had a bid of £55million including add-ons rejected by Shakhtar as talks continue, football.london understands.

Shakhtar Donetsk vice director Carlo Nicolini has explained why Arsenal's £55million bid including add-ons for Mykhaylo Mudryk was rejected. Nicolini told Italian news outlet Calciomercato: "€60million (£53million) it's not enough to sign Mudryk."

Cody Gakpo was previously linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but now is on the verge of completing a £37million transfer to Liverpool. Mudryk is considered to be valued at over double that price, but the Gunners are not giving up on signing the 21-year-old just yet with talks continuing.

Nicolini added: "Our director said that we need a bid closer to the Jack Grealish fee (£100million) than Antony (£86million) to sell Mudryk. We're not even considering a bid with €40million (£35million) as fixed fee."

Edu eyes Joao Felix January loan move

Ornstein said: "They [Arsenal] are keen to sign João Félix from Atlético Madrid. He's been offered to a number of clubs and at the moment the numbers are too high.

"Arsenal are keen to do it but the numbers would need to come down."

Leicester prepare fresh Youri Tielemans contract offer

The Gunners' plan to wait to sign Tielemans on a free transfer at the end of the season may be threatened after Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers' latest admission.

The Foxes boss has told BBC Radio Leicester reporter Owynn Palmer-Atkin that discussions with a number of players have begun on contract renewals ahead of their deals expiring in the summer, including the Belgium international.

Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have both improved drastically this season, but Arteta knows his options are limited should either of his starting midfielders suffer injuries that could hamper Arsenal's Premier League title fight with Manchester City. Speaking in September, the Tielemans said: "I'm not going to speak too much about my contract situation at the moment.
