Arsenal transfer news: Mykhaylo Mudryk latest as Serie A star targeted

The January transfer window has nearly been open for two weeks and Arsenal are yet to make any new signings.

Mikel Arteta's men have enjoyed a superb start to the season, currently leading the Premier League by five points thanks to some excellent form from the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli amongst others. However, summer signing Gabriel Jesus is currently sidelined with a knee injury, something that could force the north Londoners into bringing in some attacking reinforcements during the winter window.

Portuguese frontman Joao Felix had been mooted as a potential target, although he has now joined London rivals Chelsea on loan instead whilst chatter regarding a move for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk continues to heat up. With that being said, we have rounded up some of the latest transfer headlines involving the Gunners from the last 24 hours.

Mudryk hope

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal and Shakhtar are beginning to reach a little more consensus when it comes to the guaranteed fee that the Gunners will pay for Mudryk. The Ukrainian side are said to value the talented 22-year-old at around £85million, a fee that the north Londoners are not currently willing to pay.

Writing in his CaughtOffside column, Jacobs said: "I think the parties are reaching a little more consensus on the guaranteed part of the fee." Jacobs also added that reports claiming that a deal was already done are wide of the mark.

Midfielder targeted

Arsenal could target a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during the January window, according to Il Messaggero via Calciomercato. Their report claims that Lazio president Claudio Lotito is willing to sanction a loan departure worth £8.8million for the Serbian international.

The loan move would also include an obligation to make the move permanent this summer for £35.5million, a relatively low price when you consider that Milinkovic-Savic has netted five times and provided a further seven assists across all competitions this term.

Ramos battle

Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has claimed that Arsenal may battle it out with Manchester United to sign Benfica starlet Goncalo Ramos in the future. " Arsenal and Manchester United will look at Goncalo Ramos as an option," he told OLBG.

"Goncalo Ramos is a fantastic player, it’s not easy to replace Cristiano Ronaldo like he did. He will end up in the Premier League like a lot of Portuguese players, he can adapt there.

"If he wants to go to England, he’ll want to go to a big club. I’m sure that clubs like Arsenal or Manchester United will look out for him. "He’s a player destined for the Premier League because it’s the best league in the world and the best want to play there."

Ramos has enjoyed a tremendous 2022/23 campaign thus far, scoring nine times in the Primeira league whilst also netting a hat-trick during Portugal's 6-1 victory over Switzerland in the World Cup.
