Arsenal continued their preparations for the restart of their Premier League campaign with a friendly against Brentford at the Emirates on Wednesday afternoon.
The Gunners comfortably dispatched Charlton Athletic at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, winning 6-0, courtesy of goals from Eddie Nketiah (3), Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joseph Willock.
However, here, Mikel Arteta’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat against the Championship side, with the Gunners' goals coming from Lacazette and Willock.
The Gunners, who currently lie ninth in the Premier League table, will resume their campaign following the coronavirus shutdown next Wednesday evening when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City.
It will be the first time Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has returned to his former stomping ground for the first time since swapping the Etihad for the Emirates back in December.
And Arteta used today’s game as a chance to run the rule over his squad ahead of next week's clash.
The Gunners are believed to have lined-up as follows: Leno; Bellerin, Mustafi, Mari, Tierney; Ceballos, Willock, Saka; Pepe, Nketiah, Aubameyang.
While the following players were also involved in the game: Lacazette, Kolasinac, Nelson, Maitland-Niles Holding, Luiz, Martinelli, Ozil, Smith, Swanson, Sokratis, Medley, Xhaka, Coyle, Guendouzi, Martinez.
Trae Coyle and Matt Smith have been heavily involved with Arteta's first-team squad since the club returned to training last month, with the duo believed to be highly-rated by the Spaniard.
Prior to kick-off, Arsenal's players took a knee to show their support for the Black Lives Matter campaign, following the death of American George Floyd, whose death has sparked reaction right across the globe.
