Arsenal team news vs Liverpool as Tierney misses out but Partey returns at Anfield

Nuno Tavares has kept his place at left back for Arsenal's Premier League trip to Anfield to play Liverpool.

The Portugal international has started the last four league matches due to an injury to Kieran Tierney, but with the Scot fully fit again, it was thought he would come back into the side.

However, Mikel Arteta has demonstrated an enourmous show of faith in Tavares to keep him in the side for such a difficult match.

The only change to the side who beat Watford is that Thomas Partey comes back into the side after recovering from a tight groin that saw him miss Ghana's games over the international break.

That means Ainsley Maitland-Niles misses out despite putting in a man of the match display against the Hornets,

It also means that Alexandre Lacazette keeps his place in the starting line up with Martin Odegaard remaining on the bench and a likely substitute as the Frenchman inevitably tires around the hour mark.

It's a huge game for the Gunners who could go above Jurgen Klopp's side with a win and truly cement their top four credentials.

Arsenal starting XI vs Liverpool: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tavares; Partey, Lokonga; Saka, Lacazette, Smith Rowe; Aubameyang.
