Arsenal suffer blow in Noah Okafor Chelsea and Man City transfer race amid club chief admission

Several top Premier League clubs are interested in Red Bull Salzburg forward Noah Okafor including Arsenal and Manchester City. The 22-year-old is also well-liked by Liverpool and Chelsea after 13 goals involvements (11 goals and two assists) for Salzburg have seen him emerge as a potential attacking recruitment for a number of teams.

The priority in the forward department for Mikel Arteta and Edu seems to be with Mykhaylo Mudryk, especially after a recent report from The Mirror indicated he could be available at a significantly lower price than the near-£100million fee reported by The Athletic earlier this month.

While Arsenal seemingly have a free run at Mudryk despite some interest from Newcastle United, Okafor is on the list of multiple European clubs especially given the transfer stance of his current club.

Salzburg's hierarchy have already refused to reject the prospect of a move for Okafor in the near future, with his price tag apparently sitting at £30million.

Speaking to Sky Sport Austria, the club's current sporting director Christoph Freund said: "I think there will be a bit more going on in the transfer market than in recent years. Okafor really took off last year. I hope he plays a good World Cup. Then the Noah Okafor stock can become very interesting. I'm not ruling it out."

The £30million price tag is certainly an attractive fee placed on a player who has done a fitting job filling the lofty boots of Erling Haaland, which also saw him called up to Switzerland's World Cup squad and make an 18-minute cameo in their win over Cameroon.

While there is plenty of interest from England, current Scudetto holders AC Milan are also in the race for his signature and a new report from Calciomercato indicates they could be his eventual destination.

AC Milan sporting director, Paolo Maldini, is 'increasingly confident' Okafor will choose Milan over the Premier League clubs after his services

Maldini has reportedly been laying the groundwork for an Okafor capture for over two years, presumably dating back to when he first signed for Salzburg in the summer of 2020.
