Arsenal star drops Instagram hint over Mikel Arteta's team selection vs Dundalk

Cedric Soares looks set to earn a recall to the Arsenal matchday squad for tonight's Europa League clash against Dundalk.

The right-back didn't make the bench for last weekend's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City as manager Mikel Arteta opted to restore Hector Bellerin to the starting line-up.

Cedric did start on matchday one against Rapid Wien a week ago, although he was substituted on the hour mark and looked on as his Arsenal teammates came from behind to seal a 2-1 win.

Speaking ahead of the game against Dundalk, Arteta did discuss the prospect of rotating his squad given a trip to Manchester United is on the horizon.

"Well, we try to game by game, but obviously in the last 10 days we have picked up a lot of issues at the back with our central defenders," Arteta said in his pre-match press conference.

"We have to cautious and we have to manage that position very carefully because if we lose another one, then we will be in big trouble, so of course, we will have to keep an eye on how we manage the squad in the next two or three games."

But does this mean a start for Cedric in what would be his first appearance at the Emirates Stadium this season?

It looks like that will be the case if his Instagram Stories are anything to go by.

Taking to social media Cedric has done his best to hype up the big game in north London which would suggest he's set to at least be on the bench.

Arteta will be without as many as six first-team players against Dundalk as Pablo Mari, David Luiz, Rob Holding, and Gabriel Martinelli miss out through injury.

Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are ineligible having not been registered for the Europa League squad.

With that said, Willian is available again after missing the Leicester loss with a calf problem.

Cedric will be hoping to get the nod over Bellerin as well as Ainsley Maitland-Niles for a start on the right-hand side of the Arsenal defence.

It remains to be seen whether Arteta opts for a back three or a back four, but the Portugal international can play as a full-back or a wing-back.
