Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette brutally trolls teammate Shkodran Mustafi

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has vowed to use his critics to help him be better than ever next season - but seemed to find a new detractor in teammate Alexandre Lacazette.

The World Cup winner has failed to win over the Gunners faithful after displaying some patchy form since joining from Valencia in 2016 for £35m.

The 27-year-old is currently enjoying some downtime in Mykonos ahead of the new season, but took time to take aim at his critics with a post on Instagram .

While displaying his hands in an eagle shape beneath the setting sun, the former Everton man posted: "Back on top. An Eagle uses the negative energy of a storm to fly even higher #sm20".

It is a defiant message from Mustafi, acknowledging he has received strong criticism for his performances, but vowing to come back better.

However, fellow Arsenal star Lacazette was in no mood to pass on on a chance to poke fun at his club colleague.

With Mustafi also shirtless in the Instagram post, the France international replied: "No abs anymore?", followed by a laughing emoji.

While Lacazette's criticism was in jest, some Arsenal fans were in no mood to joke this week with their latest views on whether Mustafi should depart this summer.

On a post celebrating 25 years of their mascot Gunnersaurus, some replied that the Gunners would be better of playing him at centre-back as opposed to the 27-year-old.

Boss Unai Emery is reportedly eager to move Mustafi on this summer, with the Arsenal boss having to boost his own transfer fund by selling players.

However, the Emirates Stadium club have struggled to find a buyer that is willing to match their valuation of the 27-year-old.

But it seems that if Mustafi does remain a Gunners player past the summer, he is determined to improve in last season's efforts.
