Kieran Tierney is set to make a return from injury ahead of schedule in news that will delight Scotland boss Steve Clarke.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed that the 23 year-old is in contention to play against Villareal in tomorrow night's Europa League semi-final.
Arteta was full of admiration for the former Celtic star's mentality in recovering from injury and he revealed that Tierney had been 'working like a beast' to get back on the pitch.
The left-back sustained a knee injury against Liverpool last month and Arteta initially feared that he wouldn't return this season.
But in news that will leave Scotland supporter relieved, Tierney is set to return ahead of schedule and will be back in time to play for his country in this summer's Euros.
The Muirhouse man was outstanding for Scotland in their last three games and he picked up a hat-trick of assists in the win over Faroe Islands from centre-back.
Gunners boss Arteta said: "He's been working like a beast every single day. I don't think he's going to make it tomorrow, but he wants to be as close as possible to the football pitch to give himself the best chance.
"We need players like Tierney. We know they are the kind of players who can make a difference in a big tie like this, but I only want to put players on the pitch who feel safe to perform.
"If it's a risk, if we're going to take a gamble, I don't think it's the right game to do it."
