Arsenal's Ben White makes Elland Road and Leeds United admission

Following the key role he played in Leeds United’s Championship promotion season, Ben White is still very much admired in West Yorkshire.

The 23-year-old made the £50m switch from Brighton to Arsenal during the summer but he still looks back on his time with the Whites fondly.

White endured a bit of a rocky start to life in North London but has since been part of a Gunners defence who have kept three clean sheets in their last four Premier League matches.

He was a well-loved player during the season he spent with Leeds and supporters were gutted when Brighton were not willing to sell him on a permanent basis last summer.

In a recent video with Arsenal player titled ‘Favourites’, White provided one answer in particular that will have piqued the interest of Whites fans.

When asked what his favourite stadium was, he said: “I’d probably say a full Leeds stadium.

“Obviously I played there two years ago. That was probably my first experience of a full stadium and a lively crowd.”

Considering the platform of the interview and an eagerness to impress his new club’s supporters, it would have been more than reasonable for White to say the Emirates.

The England international was unable to experience what the atmosphere would have been like at Elland Road towards the end of the promotion run-in due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, he will be able to get a taste of what it is like on a Premier League matchday when Mikel Arteta’s side make the trip to Elland Road on December 18.

While the Gunners squad will be met by a hostile atmosphere when they take to the field, White will undoubtedly get a hero’s reception from all four stands as an acknowledgement for the role he played a couple of seasons ago.

Comments like that certainly won’t do him any harm if he wants to stay in the good books of the Leeds fans.
