Arsenal provide fresh Mikel Arteta update as London Colney training ground re-opens

Mikel Arteta is "feeling much better" and Arsenal's London Colney training ground has been re-opened, the club has confirmed.

Arsenal manager Arteta contracted COVID-19, prompting the entire Gunners squad to go into self-isolation, and subsequently the Premier League to suspend fixtures.

As a precaution Arsenal's London Colney training ground was also shut down to undergo a deep clean.

The Premier League has this Thursday announced that all fixtures will be suspended until at least April 30.

But there is good news from Arsenal, with Arteta well on the mend and the club even re-opening their training ground to all a "small workforce" to maintain facilities.

"Our training centres in London Colney and Hale End were closed for deep cleaning after Mikel's diagnosis with the virus but have now re-opened with a small workforce to maintain the facilities and training pitches," an Arsenal statement read.

"A number of staff, including Mikel and the men's first team squad, are currently isolating at home.

"We're pleased to say that Mikel is feeling much better. He's in good spirits, doing detailed planning with the coaches and speaking to the players regularly.

"The women's and academy teams are also currently staying at home.

"All our players are looking forward to getting back out on the training pitches as soon as the situation allows."
