Arsenal plot second Wilfried Zaha transfer bid - but identify alternative if they can't seal deal

Arsenal are weighing up an improved offer for Wilfried Zaha but are looking at alternatives if Crystal Palace refuse to budge on their £80million valuation.

Ivory Coast striker Zaha is said to be keen to quit Selhurst Park this summer with the Gunners strong admirers.

Palace have already sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United in a deal rising to £50million and it is unlikely they will want to lose Zaha.

Arsenal ’s first approach of around £40million has been dismissed out of hand, and the Gunners are expected to go back with a better offer.

The Evening Standard has claimed that Unai Emery is desperate to sign the winger but, given that he has only been handed a £45m transfer budget this summer, it remains unlikely he has enough funds to persuade Palace to sell.

The report goes on to claim that Arsenal will turn their attention to Yacine Brahimi if they fail to secure a deal for Zaha.

Brahimi is available on a free transfer from Porto and is seen as a much cheaper alternative to Zaha despite wanting a £3m signing-on fee.

The 29-year-old scored 13 goals in 49 matches last term, but it is Zaha who remains the No.1 priority and the north Londoners aren't giving up just yet.

Zaha netted 10 goals for Palace last season and has made 285 appearances for them in two spells.

He joined Manchester United in 2013 but played just four times, also spending a spell on loan at Cardiff , before returning to the Eagles less than two years later.

His brother recently urged Palace to let the fans' favourite leave this summer, saying: "Given all that Wilfried has given to Crystal Palace to help them remain a Premier League club, I hope Palace will be able to see their way to agreeing a deal with Arsenal that allows Wilfried to realise his dream of playing European football for the club he's supported since childhood.

"Wilfried will always hold Crystal Palace and their fans in the highest regard and all the support they have given means the world to him.

"It's my brother's dream though, to play for Arsenal."
