Arsenal players told they will be relegated unless big change is made

Former Arsenal man Armand Traore fears his old club are in real danger of being dragged into a Premier League relegation battle this season.

The Gunners are 15th in the table and only four points above the drop zone after losing eight of their opening 14 league matches.

Arsenal are without a victory in seven league matches since winning at Manchester United on November 1 - losing five and drawing two.

The 2-1 loss at Everton on Saturday was their fourth defeat in their past five league outings.

Burnley, who are third from bottom, have two games in hand on Arsenal, and are in action at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday evening.

Boss Mikel Arteta led the Gunners to FA Cup glory last season but has found it tough going so far in 2020-21.

Traore, who started his senior career at Arsenal and made 32 first-team appearances between 2006 and 2012, had some harsh words for his former team.

"The Arsenal players that have been put out there are not good enough," the 31-year-old told Sky Sports.

"They are in relegation form and at the end of the day, (if that continues) they are going to go down.

"That's a scary thought but football doesn't owe anything to anyone.

"If you are not good enough out there on the pitch, you will get a lot of defeats."

Traore accused some Arsenal players of lacking commitment to the cause at present.

"Some senior players look like they don't want to play for Arsenal, which is a shame," he added.

"I believe he (Arteta) has got some really good ideas about the club but it looks like some players do not want to be playing for Arteta, which is a shame.

"But at the end of the day, if it keeps going like this, they are going to go down. That's a fact."
