Arsenal player ratings vs Leeds: Bernd Leno steps up after Nicolas Pepe red card

Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw at Leeds United as both sides failed to find the net.

Simon Collings delivers his verdict on how the players performed…

Bernd Leno 8 | Star man

Kept Arsenal in it with a number of brilliant saves. Denied Patrick Bamford in the first-half and then produced a strong hand to stop Stuart Dallas after the break.

Hector Bellerin 6

Accomplished on the ball and solid for most of the game. Helped Arsenal keep a much-needed clean sheet after that loss to Aston Villa.

Rob Holding 7

Could have joined Leeds in the summer when it looked like he would leave Arsenal on loan. Stayed and was decent tonight.

Gabriel Magalhaes 6

Not his usual bullying self, but still performed okay. Looked comfortable playing in a two with Holding.

Kieran Tierney 7

Played 300 minutes for Scotland during the international break, but managed another 90 here. Solid as ever in defence and overlapped when he could.

Dani Ceballos 7

Looked lively and hurtled around the pitch all game. Tried to get things going and never shirked from demanding the ball.

Granit Xhaka 6

Sat in and screened the defence with minimal fuss. Had a tough second-half when playing against a Leeds side with an extra man.

Nicolas Pepe 3

Sent off five minutes into the second half after needlessly butting heads with Ezgjan Alioski. Now due to be suspended for north London derby.

Joe Willock 6

A few nice moments as he drove with the ball from midfield. Was brought off after Pepe had been sent off and Arsenal changed formation.

Willian 5

A few bits of trickery, but once again he was largely anonymous for Arsenal. Ended up being hooked at half-time for Reiss Nelson.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 5

Played through the middle but was a similar story to when he is on the left. Starved of service once again.

Substitutes

Reiss Nelson (Willian 45’) 6

Came on at half-time and added some pace and creativity. Had to spend time doing defensive work after Pepe red card.

Bukayo Saka (Willock 57’) 7

One of Arsenal’s better players when he came on. Missed a great chance to win the game late on.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Saka 90’) N/A

Subs not used: Runarsson, Mustafi, Nketiah and Lacazette.
