Hoddle on Willock game-time
Former England manager Glenn Hoddle was impressed by the performance of Arsenal’s Joe Willock against Molde on Thursday night.
The midfielder scored a fine goal in the 88th minute to cap an encouraging individual performance in the emphatic win over the Norwegian side.
However, Hoddle cast doubt on the player’s potential to break into the Gunners first-choice midfield ahead of Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.
Hoddle told BT Sport: “I think he is really a great prospect, he really is.
”He is a really good youngster for me. I am trying to work out how he is going to get in this Arsenal team, and I can’t see it at the moment unfortunately for the young man because they want to play two in the centre of midfield.
“Elneny and Partey look really good in there with the system that Arteta wants to play. I think Arteta’s looking at what Pep probably did with him when he was at Man City with Foden.”
How Arteta can nullify Grealish
Arsenal face another big test this weekend as they face high-flying Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Stopping Villa’s star man Jack Grealish will be key to Arsenal’s chances of success, with football.london laying out a plan to keep him quiet.
The piece illustrates how Leeds United managed to nullify the threat of Grealish by focusing their attacks on the other side of the pitch, and holding attack-minded full-back Stuart Dallas further back to restrain the Villa captain.
Grealish, who had at least five shot-creating actions in each of his matches prior to the Leeds encounter, managed only one in the 3-0 loss.
A similar approach would mean Arsenal attacking more down their left flank and holding Hector Bellerin back on the right.
Gnabry’s fond words for Arsenal
Serge Gnabry has become one of the best attacking players in the world at Bayern Munich since leaving Arsenal.
Now, the forward has said the Gunners would be 'the favourite' choice of team were he to return to England.
"You always hear a little bit about it or people in the UK ask me about it," he told CBS Sports, as per football.london, when asked about his struggles during a loan spell at West Brom.
"It looks like it won't stop, all I can say is I'm proud of the journey I've taken.”
Gnabry also admitted his links to the Gunners helped him enjoy his six-goal haul against Tottenham and Chelsea in last season’s Champions League a little bit more.
"Because of my Arsenal history against Spurs you have a little bit more motivation,” he added.
