Arsenal make Youri Tielemans transfer decision as Lyon offer Lucas Paqueta future update

The key Arsenal transfer headlines on Tuesday, July 26.

Youri Tielemans transfer decision

football.london understands the Gunners remain interested in signing Youri Tielemans, but reports in Italy, via the Express, suggest Edu has reached an agreement with Juventus to sign Arthur on a season-long loan deal instead.

The report outlines the Gunners want an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy the Brazilian permanently next summer. By doing this, it would save Arsenal a lot of money this summer and allow the club to invest funds elsewhere in the squad, saving their budget for Arthur until next summer.

Whilst Tielemans has just one year left on his current deal with Leicester and is available for a cut-price fee, the north London outfit look to be heading in a different direction with their transfer strategy now. The Belgium international is said to be open to a move to the Emirates, but the Gunners may see if they can agree a pre-contract deal with the 25-year-old in January and save themselves a transfer fee payment, risking Tielemans joining the likes of Manchester United this summer.

Lyon deliver Lucas Paqueta update

Following Edu's comments on Lucas Paqueta at the weekend, Lyon recruitment chief Bruno Cheyrou has responded with a major transfer revelation that could see Arsenal change their stance on a deal for the Brazilian playmaker.

In a recent press conference, via 90min, Cheyrou said: “We need to reduce the squad size. In terms of departures, we will analyse offers on a case-by-case basis but the economics will come into consideration.

"We will consider the offers with Jean-Michel Aulas and Vincent Ponsot in order to make the best decisions. "I am here to ensure the best team possible, but there are other things to take into account as well."

Later asked whether Paqueta specifically would be allowed to leave, Cheyrou responded: "We are prepared for every eventuality."

Arsenal handed Jarrod Bowen boost

Following reports that Arsenal made contact with West Ham star Jarrod Bowen's camp last week, West Ham are now pursuing a deal for a potential replacement for the 25-year-old in the shape of Stade Rennes' Martin Terrier, according to GFFN.

Terrier scored more goals (21) than Paris Saint-Germain superstar strikers Lionel Messi and Neymar combined (19) in Ligue 1 last season.

football.london understands the Gunners remain interested in signing PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo this summer, but Bowen is entering his prime and impressed immensely last term at the London Stadium, scoring 18 goals and registering 13 assists in 51 games for David Moyes' side.

Terrier may become the England international's replacement should the Gunners fight off interest from FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders Liverpool, who are also interested in signing Bowen.
