Arsenal have clinched a huge advantage over Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. The Gunners are five points ahead of the reigning champions with a game in hand and Mikel Arteta's obvious, but clever, transfer trick looks to be paying off.
The north Londoners are unbeaten in 13 games and have lost just once all season. Only Manchester United have been able to stop Arsenal in the Premier League this term, with Marcus Rashford netting twice in quick succession to snatch all three points as Erik ten Hag's side won 3-1 at Old Trafford in September.
In the reverse fixture on Sunday, the Emirates Stadium hosted a five-goal thriller which saw Eddie Nketiah grab a late goal in the dying embers of the clash to wrap up the win. The Gunners have been enjoying a great run of form but the same can't be said about Pep Guardiola's side, who are desperately scrambling for points.

City have already lost on three occasions this term, with two of them coming in their previous six Premier League fixtures. Over the course of the season, the Citizens have dropped crucial points against United, Brentford and Liverpool.
But, the title is still all to play for; the two sides are still yet to lock horns in the league at all with a six-pointer still up for grabs. But, according to CIES Football Observatory, Arsenal have spent €21million (£18.5million) more on incoming transfers than City this season.
So, the Gunners will be hoping that their clever investments pay dividends and swing the blockbuster ties in their favour. The report states that the north Londoners are the 10th highest total transfer fee spending club in the world this season, committing €173million (£152.2million).
Premier League clubs dominate the rankings, with Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham in first, second and third, respectively. Nottingham Forest come in at fourth, Wolves at fifth.
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are the only clubs not in the Premier League inside the top 10 and they sit sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively. Leeds United are the ninth highest total transfer fee spending club, ahead of Arsenal in 10th.
The Gunners welcomed Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner and Marquinhos to the club in the summer, with Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior arriving in January. As the title race heats up, Arteta will be hoping his signings can see out their Premier League title challenge all the way to May.
