What Match of the Day's Ian Wright makes of Eddie Nketiah's Leeds United loan

When it comes to Arsenal strikers, there are few with a reputation as lofty as Ian Wright's.

The former Gunner was for a long time the club's record goalscorer (until a little known fella called Thierry Henry came along), and now his playing career has ended, Wright now observes Arsenal as a pundit.

Gunners fans hope that 19-year-old striker Eddie Nketiah can be an heir to Wright and Henry, and the latest stage of his development is a season-long loan move to Leeds United.

The hope is that the raw young striker can have a similar impact to Tammy Abraham, who belied his lack of experience to rack up goals for fun in the Championship.

Gunners legend Wright is backing Nketiah to have a similar impact, and he waved the striker off to Elland Road with a message of encouragement on Twitter.

The loan switch has been sanctioned to provide some valuable playing time for Nketiah, who the Arsenal hierarchy see as a player of real promise for the future.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has worked wonders with the club's young players in his time at the club, so Nketiah is no doubt in safe hands in West Yorkshire.
