Arsenal legend delivers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer warning amid Chelsea links

Tony Adams is concerned by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Arsenal future.

The Gabonese striker will enter the final year of his contract at the Emirates next season, and there has been no breakthrough in negotiations over a new deal to keep him in north London.

Aubameyang has been linked with a number of different clubs ahead of the summer transfer window opening, with Chelsea the latest side to be tipped to make a move for him.

Manchester United and Barcelona have also previously been linked and he is expected to have his pick of clubs were he to decide to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal fans will be hoping the club can convince him to stay, given his impressive goalscoring record for the Gunners since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.

But Adams is not so sure there will be a breakthrough in negotiations to keep him in north London.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Adams said: "Quite possibly, he could walk out the door.

"I loved [former manager] Arsene Wenger's principles, that no player was bigger than the club, and he moved players on if it made sense for the club financially.

"He was strong with that and he got Champions League football every year but it did stand in the way of recruitment - so we have become a club that is selling the best players.

"If I was a coach I'd be saying: ‘Don't sell Aubameyang at any price, we need to recruit, bring players through the academy and keep our best players’."
