Arsenal fans say the same thing as Pablo Mari opens up on Premier League debut vs West Ham

Pablo Mari has opened up on his Premier League debut against West Ham last weekend.

The Brazilian defender joined the club on loan from Flamengo in the January transfer window, with the Gunners having an option to buy the centre-back in the summer.

It was his second appearance in an Arsenal shirt - his first having come in the FA Cup fifth round win over Portsmouth five days before - and he has yet to concede a goal for his new club.

In an interview posted by Arsenal on the club's YouTube channel, Mari was asked about his Premier League debut.

Art de Roche on the state of play at Arsenal

He said: "For me it was an unbelievable day, we won the game, which is the most important thing and my feeling on the pitch was really nice.

"With our fans, with our team, in our home, I had everything to enjoy and I enjoyed it a lot and I hope I'm going to play the next games to feel the same with my team-mates and the club."

Unfortunately for Mari the coronavirus outbreak has hit his hopes of playing more games for the Gunners in the near future.

The Premier League announced the entire schedule was suspended for three weeks in a joint statement with the FA and EFL on Friday.

There will be no play until April 4 as a result of the pandemic sweeping the globe.

Arsenal have been hit by the virus, with head coach Mikel Arteta recovering in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

And the majority of the responses to the YouTube video of Mari were messages of support for Arteta.

Sharjeel Ayaan was the first to comment, saying: "Get well soon Mikel."

Wivas Poudel said: "Really excited and happy for him the way he has settled at Arsenal. Hope he does great and then we sign him permanently. PLUS, I want to wish Mikel and everyone infected with Corona virus a very speedy recovery. We all are with you."

And there were plenty more.

Infex said: "Sorry about Arteta. I hope he comes back stronger than ever," while Praktube Official said: "Get well soon Mikel wishing u a speedy recovery gaffer."

Mandaar Kumar said: "Hope you get well soon Mikel, our best wishes are with you," while Raj joined in and said: "Get better Mikel. You are great coach (from United Fan)."
