Arsenal evening headlines as Edu entices Willian and Torreira linked with Serie A return

Good evening, Arsenal fans. Here are your evening headlines for Tuesday, August 4.

Arsenal make "enticing" offer to Willian

Arsenal have made the “most enticing” offer to Willian, who is weighing up his options ahead of the expiration of his contract at Chelsea.

The Brazilian winger has been locked in discussions with the Blues over a contract extension for the majority of the season, but Arsenal’s offer has turned his head, with Willian seemingly edging closer to joining the Gunners.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims the offer on the table from the north London club isn’t just the most financially beneficial to Willian, but it that entices the winger “from a football perspective.”

Mikel Arteta on summer plans and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Mikel Arteta has asked for the signing of Willian to be completed, with the Brazilian reportedly impressed by the desire of the new Arsenal manager and the club’s technical director, Edu.

Giampaolo wants reunion with Arsenal midfielder

Marco Giampaolo is expected to become Torino’s new manager and the former Sampdoria boss wants Lucas Torreira to be one of his first signings.

The 53-year-old worked with Torreira before his move to Arsenal in the summer of 2018 and with the Uruguayan now down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, a reunion of the two figures could be possible.

Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, claims Torreira is among four or five players Giampaolo wants to take with him to Torino.

Arteta has favoured other midfield options of late, with the 24-year-old sitting out the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea and making only two starts in the post-lockdown fixtures

Shirt sales reveal Arsenal’s most popular player

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s double might have clinched FA Cup glory for Arsenal, but shirt sales suggest he is not the most popular player at the Gunners.

The north London club released their new home kit for the 2020/21 season last week, with supporters snapping it up in their droves and getting their favourite player’s name printed on the back.

And it's Kieran Tierney that currently tops the charts for the number of kits sold with his name etched on the back, ahead of the likes of Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.

Bukayo Saka and Hector Bellerin are featured in the top five, which gives an idea of who is in the good books of the club’s supporters at the moment.
