Arsenal dressing room stance on Mesut Ozil decision as Mikel Arteta delivers transfer update

Arsenal are hopeful of sorting out an exit for German midfielder Mesut Ozil this month with the midfielder currently frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The 32-year-old has not played a minute of football this season after not being included in Arsenal’s Premier League squad and has been heavily linked with an exit.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce remain keen on signing Ozil, whilst football.London reported earlier this week that talks had been opened with MLS side DC United.

The Daily Mail are now reporting that Ozil is willing to leave the Emirates Stadium, having previously wanted to stay and fight his way back into Arteta’s plans. The report also suggests that Arsenal ’s players feel that now is the right time to sell Ozil, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014.

During his press conference this morning ahead of facing Newcastle United in the FA Cup, Arteta said that the club are keen to get a move for Ozil that suits all parties.

"If something is sorted this month it's because it's good for both parties, because it's good for Mesut and his future and because it's good for the club,” Arteta explained.

“If that's the case we'll move forward and if not the player will continue here.

"He's been training with us but he had some days because we decided to give him some days for something personal but he's training with us all the time."

Ozil's agent Dr Erkut Sogut denied reports that his client had already agreed a deal, and confirmed the midfielder's future would be resolved in the next 10 days.

Sogut has told ESPN: "We were not allowed to talk legally before January 1 so now we are just starting to look at the options with the numbers and details.

"I can't talk about the clubs directly because it would be unprofessional but generally, there is six months left on the contract and it is nothing unusual that we will talk to people about different opportunities and try to find the best option for Mesut.

"He might stay at Arsenal until the summer but he might go. Mesut's priority is to stay but you never know in football, things can change very fast.

"For the moment, we are just checking all the options for January and the summer.

"If we want to leave in January, I need to talk to Arsenal. If we sign for the summer, we don't need to. That's the situation.

"In the next seven to ten days, it will be a little clearer as now the transfer window is open, things can move faster."
