Arsenal confirmed XI vs Watford: Mesut Ozil replaces Alex Lacazette

Mesut Ozil has been named in Arsenal's starting line-up for the trip to Watford.

Arsenal are without Alexandre Lacazette, sidelined until next month with an ankle injury he has been carrying since pre-season. The French striker's place in the side is taken by Ozil, who will be playing his first minutes of the season.

The German missed the opening game of the season following a security incident involving him and Sead Kolasinac whilst illness has also limited his involvement this season.

Dani Ceballos has also been added to the team, taking the place of Lucas Torreira.

The Gunners remain short on numbers in defence but reinforcements are on the way. Neither Rob Holding nor Konstantinos Mavropanos have made the matchday squad but they played the full 90 minutes for the Under-23s in a 2-1 win over Leicester City.

Meanwhile Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney joined first-team training this week but will need a week more before they can even be considered for youth team matches, let alone be integrated into Emery's first team.

Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli were among the youngsters who made up Arsenal's travelling party.
