Arsenal confirm permanent transfer of Konstantinos Mavropanos to Bundesliga club Stuttgart

Stuttgart have completed the permanent signing of Konstantinos Mavropanos after a successful loan move from Arsenal.

The 24-year-old joined the Gunners from Greek club PAS Giannina in 2018 but was rarely used and left on loan to Nurnberg 18 months later having failed to make even ten appearances.

In 2020, Mavropanos began a two-year loan spell with Stuttgart which included a purchase option said to be as low as £3million, and the German side have taken up that deal.

On Thursday, Arsenal confirmed the defender’s exit and stated: “We thank Dinos for his contribution and wish him all the best with Vfb Stuttgart.”

Stuttgart finished 15th in the Bundesliga having only avoided a relegation play-off courtesy of a last-minute winner against Koln on the final day of the season, Mavropanos making his 33rd appearance of the season in the 2-1 victory.

Mavropanos told the club website: “I’ve always given my best and will continue to give my best for this great club. The trust of the management and the affection of the fans in Stuttgart serve as a great motivation for me.”

Arsenal are preparing for further investments of their own in the summer market with Mikel Arteta making a “quality over quantity” approach paramount in his business.

Matteo Guendouzi, Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari and Lucas Torreira are other loanees who look destined to leave the club on permanent deals.
