Arsenal coaches 'against' Mikel Arteta's latest plan as more players on transfer list

Coaches at Arsenal are reportedly against the idea of manager Mikel Arteta cutting all ties with Lucas Torriera.

The Uruguay international midfielder is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, who he joined in the summer with Thomas Partey going the other way.

But Torreira has struggled to tie down a place in Diego Simeone's side and claims have emerged that the 24-year-old is unhappy in Spain.

Arsenal are considering cutting short the midfielder's loan deal to allow him to secure a move to another club. There is also talk Torreira could leave permanently.

According to Sky Sports, many of the Arsenal coaches are still friendly with Torreira and are against the idea of him being sold, despite the fact he's out of favour under Arteta.

Valencia are keen on snapping up the 24-year-old, but Arsenal technical director Edu says a number of clubs have enquired about Torreira.

"The situation is very simple. Arsenal are concerned about Torreira, his happiness, that he plays and that he is well," Edu told AS.

"We want to know about him how he feels and, later, of course, know what Atletico thinks. For us, Lucas and his happiness is what's more important.

"If everyone is happy, we will continue like this, if Lucas is not well, we will look for a change because there are many teams that are calling me to ask about the player's situation."
