Arsenal can repeat Ben White transfer trick to beat Man Utd to signing after Yves Bissouma miss

Arsenal are interested in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton. The Ecuador international has been a star of the opening two gameweeks, helping the Seagulls to a win over Manchester United and keeping a clean sheet against Newcastle United in a goalless draw.

However, Arsenal will face competition for his signature from Erik ten Hag’s side according to The Express. United have been a mess since the campaign began and have conceded six goals in their opening two defeats to Brighton and Brentford.

Ten Hag has said he needs more quality. Asked whether United would have a better squad come the close of the window he replied: "We have to. I am convinced we will have."

However, Arsenal also are looking to add midfield strength to their side. Youri Tielemans has been a long-term target and the Gunners remain very interested but football.london understands Edu is in no rush to complete a deal.

Arsenal missed out on the signing of Yves Bissouma who Tottenham were able to snap up early in the window for an initial £25million fee. The Gunners had been linked with the Malian midfielder but ultimately never firmed up their interest.

Should they want to avoid a repeat and lose out on another Premier League target to a top-four rival, they may need to act swiftly to secure Caicedo. That said, he is unlikely to move cheaply.

Brighton have a strong record of selling and have made more than £150million from the sales of Bissouma, Marc Cucurella and Ben White to fellow Premier League sides in the past two summers. They’re expected to sell Neal Maupay for a fee in the region of £15million to Nottingham Forest too despite the striker having just a year left on his deal according to The Athletic. And the Seagulls will not be looking to let another midfield man leave.

United were interested in Caicedo before he moved to Brighton from Independiente del Valle. Whether this will give them an edge in a potential race for his signature is unknown, but the Gunners look the far brighter prospect to sign for at the moment and they have a previous good transfer relationship with the Seagulls after splashing £50million on Ben White last summer.
