Arsenal can continue Matteo Guendouzi and Gabriel Martinelli trend by unearthing next wonderkid

Arsenal are keen on highly-rated Paris Saint-Germain attacking-midfielder Adil Aouchiche.

That's according to reports in France.

It's not the first time the Gunners have been linked with a PSG wonderkid. Back in 2018 during Unai Emery's first transfer window as head coach, there was talk of Yacine Adli joining the north London outfit

The Gunners pushed hard to conclude a deal following the appointment of Emery and even thought they had agreed a deal for the highly-rated midfielder after he travelled to London for talks.

But just as he was about to sign, Adli had a sudden change of heart and returned to the French capital where he signed a professional contract with the Ligue 1 champions having been assured of first-team chances under Thomas Tuchel that season.

That wasn't exactly the case as Adli failed to make a single senior appearance for PSG during the first-half of the 2018/2019 campaign and, just a matter of months after rejecting the Gunners, he joined Bordeaux four-and-a-half year deal in a deal worth a reported £5m.

Not that he rues that decision.

"I don’t regret anything. Even if I didn’t play once over the past six months in Paris, I’m glad I did them," he told Le Parisien, as reported by Sport Witness. "I was around great players ever day. I progressed, but that’s in the past.

"Now, I’m focused on Bordeaux."

Arsenal are no strangers to French youngsters having signed Mattéo Guendouzi from Lorient at the beginning of the 2018/2019 season - ironically after missing out on signing Adli.

And impressed many with his performances in central midfield, leading many fans to forget about the Adli saga.

Going further back to the Arsene Wenger era where Arsenal became synonymous for unearthing the next wonderkind with the likes of Cesc Fàbregas, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey all brought to the club as teenagers.

Those three would all develop into key first-team players and that trend has continued with Gabriel Martinelli who arrived from Ituano last summer and has taken English football by storm this season.

So can Arsenal continue this trend with the signing of Aouchiche.
