Arsenal and Tottenham handed £72m transfer boost as Harry Kane domino effect deal considered

Over the summer transfer window, both Arsenal and Tottenham were strongly linked with a move for Inter Milan and Argentina forward Lautaro Martinez.

The 24-year-old's contract situation at the San Siro was a big concern for the Italian club, but the striker then put that to bed when he put pen to paper on a new deal until the summer of 2026.

Despite this, though, Martinez, who is valued at £72million on Transfermarkt, continues to be linked with a move away from Inter.

According to Calciomercato, the Argentine's performances for Inter this season and he stands out as the 'main suspect for a summer sale' from the San Siro.

The report goes on to mention Inter Milan having an interest in Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus as a possible replacement for Martinez, with the Brazilian 'strongly backed' by the Italians.

Jesus, 24, sees his contract at the Premier League leaders expire at the end of next season and he is apparently being watched closely by Inter, and their city rivals Milan, who are looking at a possible replacement for the ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Man City are after another striker, that was clear in the summer with their relentless pursuit of Harry Kane from Tottenham, but the reigning English champions were unsuccessful in their attempts to persuade Spurs to sell their star player.

It seems likely that City could come back in for Kane this summer, especially if Jesus was to be sold - leaving them very short of senior options in the centre-forward position.

As for Martinez, he could look to be sold on by Inter, with the Italian press really getting on his back about his form that has seen him score 11 goals in the Serie A this season.

However, the Argentine seemed really happy when he signed a new contract in Milan a few months ago, with no sign at all that he wanted to leave the club in the near future.

He said on his Instagram page: "I am very happy to have extended my contract with Inter. THANKS to my teammates for always helping me on the pitch, THANKS to all the fans for the support they have always shown me, and THANKS to my family for always being by my side. #ForzaInter."

Arsenal and Tottenham both want to add more attacking options to their squad and they could be put on red alert by Inter Milan reportedly looking at Jesus.
