Arsenal and Chelsea handed January transfer chance for Man Utd's Marcus Rashford after PSG claim

Arsenal and Chelsea may have been given the green light to make a move for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford in January rather than in the summer. That's because PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has suggested that the French club may look to land the forward at the end of the season.

Rashford has been linked with a move to both the Emirates Stadium and Stamford Bridge in recent months, with his contract at United dwindling. The 25-year-old has impressed so far this season under new boss Erik ten Hag, even earning back a place in the England side for the World Cup - one of the few benefitting from it taking place this winter rather than earlier in the summer.

"What I see is a happy Marcus Rashford," Ten Hag said on the striker's transformation this season. "I saw some phases of his game he could improve and we worked really hard the last two months with him on different aspects."

With January on the horizon, an early move for Rashford could be on the cards as the Gunners are in need of potential reinforcements, not least since the long-term injury to Gabriel Jesus. The Blues are in a similar boat, needing a goal-scoring forward to add to their ranks.

They may have even more reason to make a decision in the winter market after Al-Khelaifi's answer on PSG making a deal for the England international. He told Sky Sports: "Definitely, we're not hiding it. We spoke before, was not a good moment for both sides. Maybe [in the summer]. Why not?

"We're not going to talk to them now, let them focus on the World Cup." With the French club able to potentially blow both teams out the water with their financial might, the need to get a deal over the line in the upcoming window is heightened for Chelsea and Arsenal.
